Bernie is not charismatic. He is popular but that's because his policies are popular and he seems authentic to people

Its a subset of charisma imo, some are likability, authenticity, respect, etc

Bill Clinton was absolutely viewed as "authentic" compared to his presidential rivals.
-
Maybe in 1992. Later, though, Clinton continued to be viewed as "charismatic" even as he was not viewed as "authentic."

Hence authentic being a subset of charismatic and not the other way around.

Like any other charismatic figure, Bill Clinton is and always was toxic to people who read him as a sleazy con man. The virile young man is a model of charisma, but "charismatic to me" is too constricted an analysis.

This seems obviously wrong to me. But I don't want to quibble. I think it's interesting how when the rubber meets the road, we all have different meanings behind the words we use. It's a fairly common observation, but fun to see play out in real time.
