I don't think I've read anything good about extremely online Clinton/anti-Sanders people. Should be done if it hasn't already, imo. Not even as a takedown. Just profiling that constituency.

Only 8% of Dems have a negative view of Sanders, but each of them has a twitter account and tweets 1,000 a day "He's not even a Dem."

Nobody has gone negative on Sanders. That won't last.

See also: "His numbers will plunge when people learn he's a socialist." It is literally the first thing everyone learns about him. Anderson Cooper asked him about it ten times over nine debates. I think the cat is out of the bag at this point. https://fair.org/home/the-myth-that-sanders-hasnt-been-criticized-wont-go-away/ …

I didn't say he hadn't been criticized. He clearly has been. What hasn't happened is actual negative campaigning against him: negative ad buys, other candidates going negative on him during debates.

Clinton thought (correctly) that she could win without doing that. Of course, apparently a lot of people felt that she did it anyway, so... whoops. But ppl will come out gunning for Bernie if he's a frontrunner.

Clinton left the attacks to her surrogates. She learned in 2008 that going negative on someone more likable than yourself backfires rather spectacularly. What won her the primary was the corporate press ignoring Sanders as long as possible. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/yikes-new-behind-the-scenes-book-brutalizes-the-clinton-campaign-123303/ …

no, what won her the primary was that Sanders decided to sit out Super Tuesday.

Actually what won her the primary was that Sanders didn't go negative on her (about the email and other stuff). He didn't have a killer instinct. It would've been better for all of us if he had.

Do you think there was a shortage of anti-Clinton media, paid and otherwise, during the primary?

Hmm, I am respectfully skeptical of this explanation because I think the rules of engagement in the primary are different than in the general. You have to pull your punches to get unity afterwards. Moreover, going rough would have gave credibility to the bogus misogyny narrative.

And a big chunk of Bernie's broad appeal comes from his palpable decency as well as his platform and passion. I don't think sacrificing that would have been a net gain. I am not dismissing it as a factor out of many, but it just doesn't seem like one of the more decisive ones.
