Yeah, not really when it comes to New Testament scholarship. Sure, on the Old Testament side we have the so-called Minimalists and the Copenhagen School, who have been very good at carrying forward the criticisms from prior centuries, but we don't see the same in NT studies.

it is unfair. that said it'd be silly to not challenge theology given the archaeological and anthropological findings and biblical scholars get very mad at people questioning what is fundamentally a field that isn't good with evidence

Ah yes, Casey, Ehrman, Fisher, and Hoffman are all notoriously awful with evidence questioning Christian orthodoxy, what with them being atheists and all. As for archaelogy, who do you consider more reliable? Rene Salm?
