"banning abortion" is no more "paternalistic" than "banning" other forms of killing. it only becomes "paternalistic" if you do not believe the life being protected is worthy of protection.

Here is the point: if you absolutely defend late term abortion...then you are as uncompromising as the pro-lifers who absolutely, 100% are opposed to abortion of any kind. They are literally mirror images of one another.

Yes, and while there is a subset of pro-lifers that see all birth control as wrong, the majority(?) only oppose birth control that is seen as abortive in nature. But being ok with killing (again, in pro-lifer terms) an unborn child to preserve bodily autonomy? Hard compromise.
