Thinking about American history it's very easy to see a repeated pattern of advancing minority rights followed by white supremacist backlash. It happens with Reconstruction, it happens after the Civil Rights movement, and it's happening now

Would also add that “giving” health insurance to 20+ million of “them” (as it was portrayed) was also traumatic for welfare ethnic-racial nationalists.

Both Obergefell and ACA are obviously significant, and I don’t doubt that they made people furious, as did the “bailout,” but compared to previous eras of reform it’s shockingly modest
