DARE was founded in '83 (which may be more a sign of increased focus on teen drinking as a problem than the solution to that problem).

I doubt DARE was going to Georgetown Prep. They only went to where they could get kids to narc out their parents and friends.

Drinking age raised in 1984-1986 to 21, which meant Seniors were less able to buy booze and give it to their underage friends.

As a ‘survivor’ of that era (HS class of ‘86) I think this rings true. Also parenting: those crazy parties always happened when parents went on vacation sans kids.
