1. For me, this exchange between Kavanaugh and Klobuchar was ... I won't say triggering but it really made and impression and resonated.https://twitter.com/joshtpm/status/1045420473633394688 …

I was a binge alcoholic for many years, as was my father. You can be very high-achieving. In fact, the binging and achieving feed one another.

I mentioned this when it happened,as a recovering alcoholic I can tell you that that IS what and active alcoholic (or dry alcoholic) would have said. I am not engaging in character assasinaion here,I don’t know what BK’s state of affairs is. But that exchange set off alarm bells.

In rewatching that exchange, I get the sense that Kavanaugh feels he's throwing back a *ludicrous* smear in the face of another public servant of equal status and dignity, rather than acting especially "defensive." But ... I'm a liberal who suffers from an excess of empathy.

To be clear, I have no interest in defending Kavanaugh, who I think is a monster. Just my own, slightly different "reading" of that exchange, which differs from my initial reaction when watching it live, for whatever it may be worth.
