6. What we can say is that when the issue of his drinking is brought up, even in the most tactful way possible (as it was by Klobuchar), Kavanaugh responds by getting testy, defensive and hostile. That's not good.

I was a “functioning alcoholic” (even highly so!) for several years. A life event caused me to devolve into a dysfunctional one. They are world’s apart.

Actual alcoholic here willing to do (improper) armchair analysis. No way he could carry out his current position were he an actual one. (Yes, there are functioning alchies but that’s merely toe-ing the line). More likely, he’s afraid to admit, under oath, about binge drinking

My mom was a functioning alcoholic and a Masters and a long, distinguished career. She didn't quit drinking until she became a not functioning alcoholic.
