That’s not really it. (I’m a psychiatrist). The problem is we KNOW every. single. therapist in driving distance socially and they can’t treat us. Even if we’re willing to drive we know them from conferences. Many of us would “like” to hash stuff over with someone but with who?
You can know your cardiologist socially but not your shrink.
She's not a therapist she's a statistical researcher. Also I don't think that psychologists actually do that. She did talk about it with her therapist in couples counseling, to explain why she wanted two front doors on her house.
