19th century novels -- particularly Dickens -- work wonderfully well because they were meant to be read aloud.

Nicholson Baker's The Anthologist is good. He reads it himself. And the Frederick Davidson's reading of Michael Frayne's Headlong is superb.

I listen while driving. I’ve audio read the entire Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, among others. I remember quite a lot. Conversely, I don’t listen to podcasts because I can’t find many that reward attention.
