1. This is something that's been gnawing at me. Leaving aside the sexual assault allegations against him, Kavanaugh is just a massive, shameless liar, as seen by his Fox interview.https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1044795924998967296 …

7. Here's the thing: there's nothing wrong with being a big drinker (as long as you don't damage your health). It's one way to have fun as a teen and in college. What's wrong here is that at age 53 Kavanaugh can't admit truth & intent on whitewashing his past.

8. What's weird to me is that the lying seems so unnecessary. I mean, there's no need to pretend to be Andy Hardy or Archie Andrews. Americans, especially evangelicals, love a good redemption story. Look at George W. Bush.

9. As I've suggested before, the smart play for Kavanaugh would be to not pretend to be Teen Squeaky Clean but to be forthright about his past. The GOP is inclined to take "boys will be boys" attitude anyways. So the lies seem weirdly unnecessary.

10. This makes sense. We know Kavanaugh's friend (and drinking partner) Mark Judge got black out drunk. The unwillingness of the GOP to subpoena Judge speaks for itself.https://twitter.com/Beyerstein/status/1044816403453415424 …

Most people are hard drinkers in college, I was, hell, everyone I knew was. That's what you did. You had parties, you drank, you watched Football, baseball, etc and drank, and then of course sobered up enough to do you work.

The guy is a complete liar. A drinking problem and very plausible sex crimes in his past. Utterly unacceptable for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the country. Which means republicans can’t wait to confirm him.

Exactly. Didn't he already commit perjury a few times about his past actions? This is just part and parcel.
