This was my experience at an American private school in the 90s.
In the article, other than a brief mention of a debate over texts in Texas, no single example is given of a high school using Zinn with no other texts. It's just blanket asserted. So it's a straw man argument until there's evidence.

even at GDS we had Hofstadter at least in addition to Zinn so hard to imagine such a high school
