You call him an “honest broker” right there in your piece

In this paragraph, you argue that HRC to the right of Trump. As you wrote it, the citation of Trump's claim that he will be an honest broker not only serves this purpose, but also brings Trump into line with. . . .Bernie Sanders & the "mainstream of American foreign policy."pic.twitter.com/J4txsOgzSv

I don't know if you currently agree w/ your analysis from two years ago or not. But this para quite clearly gives an unquestioning account of Trump's own claim. You also used this claim to form a juxtaposition in which Trump was either more moderate or more left than HRC.pic.twitter.com/TzWoljoODv

Again, maybe you've changed your mind, but I don't think you should make the argument that you never wrote anything that demonstrated this particular juxtaposition. It's clearly the case that you did.

Sigh. I wrote countless articles in 2015 and 2016 saying that Trump was a bullshit artist and that his incoherent ramblings on foreign policy will lead to a more dangerous world: https://newrepublic.com/minutes/132249/donald-trump-promising-exciting-new-world-nuclear-proliferation …

That's great. But it's not a contradiction of the argument that you did, at other times, engage in this specific juxtaposition. We're not talking about your entire journalistic record. We're talking about aspects of it.

Here is statement: "By saying Trump would be "neutral" on Israeli security, Hillary Clinton was attacking him from the right." Do you agree or disagree with that as a factual statement?

It doesn’t matter what I think of that specific claim, b/c we’re talking about the argument as a whole, which includes unquestioningly situating Trump w/in the mainstream (& even comparing him w/ Sanders) w/in a given paragraph.

I'm really not concerned w/ asking you to defend every single paragraph or piece you've ever written. It's just clear that you made a given argument. . . .and I'm not sure why you're denying that is the case.

I'm denying it because it's a bad faith reading (given the total coverage I gave of Trump) and because I think it's bad for Democrats to do what Clinton did (try and attack the GOP for not being hawkish enough).

It's odd that you are insinuating people should consider your entire body of work when reading individual pieces. The arguments w/in the individual pieces should stand on their own. We're talking about one set of arguments you made, not your broader worldview.

It's also odd that you continue to misrepresent your article in this convo. You didn't argue that HRC attacked the GOP for not being hawkish enough. You argued, rather, that she was attacking *Trump* for not being hawkish enough, perhaps in an attempt 2 appeal 2 neo-conservativespic.twitter.com/xrG8OWQbLR
