Why are you straw manning him? His point is that the n word is just a referrant for racial animus toward a group. Banning the word n word doesn't delete the thought behind it. Words aren't magic. There's no beetle in the box. He's pointing out history.

People opposed to using the n-word (which I take it includes you since you didn't spell it out) don't think it's "magic." They oppose the social attitudes the word conveys (which is the same logic that Plato used to justify controlling poetry)
