The argument for abolishing NATO is, I think, very bad.

I think it was fair to ask this question in the early to mid-1990s. Its expansion could have been more considered. It's hard to understand the case today.

There is room for a thoughtful piece outlining what US withdrawal from Europe and the return to a robust conventional military capability as well as strategic and/or force projection capability by Germany might look like - and then explain this is in US interests

I bet Eastern Europe loves the current situation of an aggressive Russia a Germany being encouraged/feeling compelled to re-arm & a US retreating to the western hemisphere, that's always been such a good combination for them
