at the very least the media should respect institutions and power less, whether that's reflected as tabloid style coverage or not seems secondary

A lot of tabloid journalism is controlled by or indebted to conservative business interests, for example Trump’s close relationship with the Enquirer and TMZ; Gawker was the leftist counterpoint and look what happened to them
