Pushback on the Quillette piece on Steven Galloway. @JesseBrown makes some good criticisms, especially about MC being Galloway's student (which was in a tweet, but still). Cran should have disclosed his involvement higher up.https://twitter.com/JesseBrown/status/1011702323884806144 …

I'm not sure though that it was "unethical" to assign Cran the story. For sure it is generally to be avoided that reporting pieces should not be assigned to people with a stake in them. But sometimes biased parties are the only ones who care enough or are in a position to drag

To the extent that the article adopted the pose of being an objective account of stuff the author was an active participant of & partisan in, it's a big problem. It's okay to be Zola, but don't be Zola while adopting NY Times "view from nowhere"

Reminiscent of when Jesse Brown reported the Jian Ghomeshi story, if I recall correctly. And more recently, CTV on Patrick Brown. I wonder which of the three narratives ended up being more close to truth.

That’s your interpretation and not mine. Writers write. That’s what I do. Do you actually have a problem with the content? If so what?

This is the game plan: when you can't find criticisms relating to the substantive content, then blow up issues aside from the content to try and discredit the information. Maybe when Jeet makes his opinion known he can disclose which side he is first.
