1. Want to talk about Dave Sim, the cartoonist who created Cerebus the Aardvark. He's the John the Baptist who prefigured both Jordan Peterson & David Brooks.pic.twitter.com/cMFcfNRbpM

8. One last thought: Sim, Brooks and Peterson were all born in Canada. What is there about Canada that produces such men?
8. Hypothesis: as the hinterland of Western civilization, Canada produces overambitious thinkers who love grand syncretic theorizing: Marshall McLuah, Northrop Frye, Harold Innis, Hugh Kenner, Jordan Peterson, David Brooks, Dave Sim
The worst aspect of Sim, to my mind, is that for a while his comic was the best thing going. He was an undeniable talent.
Remember when CEREBUS was considered a feminist comic? Or at least the sort of comic you’d recommend to a female friend who wasn’t into comics?
Dave Sim’s fans have been trying to get him to reach out to Peterson, hoping to boost CEREBUS ebook sales. Sim’s own intellectual inferiority complex makes him reject the idea: https://momentofcerebus.blogspot.com/2018/01/off-white-house-bulletin-11018_12.html …
His work was the namesake of "Cerberus Syndrome," which is at least pretty well-known on TVTropes.
You forgot to mention that Sim at least combined his lunacy & misogyny with utterly brilliant cartooning. So far as I can tell, neither Brooks nor Peterson are even remotely close to brilliant in any area.
