I think it's important to have a conversation about the New Deal. Essentially, Democrats were coddling racists and focusing on universal programs that minorities sometimes couldn't access. If we're being honest, that's why it worked so it's an incomplete model.

Talking about the 1930s shows the sclerotic nature of the left and center left. "Hey look, we haven't had a good idea in 8 decades" is not going to win many elections. It's the same with rose Twitter's romanticism with union battles that are even older.
