Othello was subject to xenophobia (that's a big part of play) but he was a general married to a woman we'd now call white. His marriage would've been impossible in many parts of USA from circa 1660s-1967. Why? Laws shaped by proto-Englightenment & Enlightenment racism.https://twitter.com/CathyYoung63/status/1003104583474974720 …

"Proto-enlightenment" "idelogical racism" You are moving the goal posts with these contrived words.

Locke was 28 and of no note in 1660. How can you defend the claim that he invented racism on the basis that he was alive when racist laws were passed?

Timeline for Locke being influential early on here doesn't work. VA removed suit for freedom for baptized blacks in 1667. Ashley's NC Constitution which Locke was a secretary for was completed 1669.
