Rhetorical questions are not a neutral device. They do actually introduce the plausibility of the question being open. And then you answer it! ... but if all someone caught was the question, and not your followup answer, they walk away uncertain, and you did them a disservice.

The same could be said of anyone who might be labeled a liar. Trump seems to be treated as an exception to the rule because consistent application of the previous standard would mean describing him as a liar incredibly often.

He doesn't care about 'being truthful', it's not a value set that has ever meant much of anything to him. Shit-testing & gaslighting are clearly some of his favorite forms of dominance display. Going along with his mendacity is a way for his followers to display their loyalty.

True, he could be senile. There's plenty of video proof of that, too.

If everyone would be honest about the fact that the only alternative to calling Trump a liar is to acknowledge that he presents at least one unprecedented, utterly disqualifying pathology, then I'd be less disturbed by the debate.

He forgot because keeping track of an exponentially increasing number of lies is breaking his brain.

Does it matter? Concentrate on the fact he's spouting nonsense.
