anyone help me understand what makes an external hard drive and internal hard drive besides it not being inside a PC. Cant you put this external hard drive inside and it be considered an internal hard drive? Does cables/wires make the difference???
Externals have a little piece of hardware on the connectors allowing you to connect via USB cable instead of the regular SATA ones. It's usually possible to take it out of the box, remove the connector and then use it as an internal drive, and vice versa!

Thanks. It just seems externals are cheaper and I was thinking why not use those as hard drives instead of internal ones. But I see what yo I mean by the SATA cables and USB
