I would like to propose a way to keep our streets safe in a way that safeguards the Second Amendment. I call it Good-Guys-with-Guns™. I for one agree that the only way to combat the increasing number of guns is to add more good guys with guns! Hear me out..
Naturally, the best way to respond to an armed attacker is with an armed defender, a GGwG for short. However, criminals or mentally unstable individuals could pose as GGwG, so we need to set up a simple 4-step system to prevent guns from getting in the wrong hands!
1. A GGwG must register with the a national database, so they can prove to everyone around them that they are indeed a GGwG and receive the praise of their peers.
2. A GGwG can't be a criminal, so naturally we require mandatory background checks for all GGwG's.
3. We can't have mentally ill GGwG's, so anyone who wants to register as a GGwG must receive a psych evaluation.
Now we know you're a good guy, but are you a Good Guy *with a gun*? 4. Mandatory firearms training for all GGwG's. You're no good if you don't know how to handle a weapon both in your home and on the street.
That's it! Just 4 steps and you're a certified GGwG. Carry your gun wherever you go. However, if you're not certified, we can only discern that you are NOT a Good-Guy-With-Gun™ and therefore you must immediately surrender your weapons, otherwise, you're just an ordinary criminal
