It’s not really an apology if the only thing you apologize for is not knowing in advance that people would be upset by your very important and well intended informative statement
It's also worth noting that he probably paid to push this "apology" to a broader audience, seeing as I've unfollowed him and still it popped on my feed minutes after being posted (no-one I followed liked, commented, RT'd, etc. - it was just there)
