NASA would use two rockets: One to launch Orion into low-Earth orbit. One to launch a fully fueled upper stage. They would mate, and then Orion flies its EM-1 mission profile. "NASA has a history of not meeting launch dates, and I'm trying to change that." Incredible to hear.

Presumably this would be done in the reverse order, with fuel being launched first so crew didn’t waste time in event of launch failure.

Does a Centaur fit in a falcon heavy fairing?

Yes, but just barely. Not including anything attached to it, of course..

Then i ithink an atlas 542 or 552 would be the launch vehicle for the Orion, and Falcon Heavy could bring a tanked Centaur up.

What I meant is that according to the specs it can technically fit, but since you need to attach it to FH's second stage and it will need some sort of Orion adapter, I don't think it will actually fit..
