Mini-rant: I've never been to a conference where so many people didn't turn up to give their talks. It strikes me as disrespectful to everyone's time: The session chairs, the attendees, and the other people who could have had talks in those places instead.

Speakers at conferences like these aren't compensated for anything by the conference, unless (sometimes) they are a big keynote. It's paid for by your employer or self-funded.
