This is why student loans should be privatized like any other form of credit. Students should also be able to declare bankruptcy. That way when lenders will only lend to people going for marketable degrees, universities won't be able to afford nonsense.

Student loans are already privatized. But the government guarantees them, making such loans a risk-free investment for lenders. This creates a condition of moral hazard, in which lenders make loans which they know won't be repaid by the borrowers, and socialize the repayment.

Agreed. I'm aruguing for full privatization. Let lenders risk everything. Watch the Universities reform as their student base dries up in grievance studies.
