Re the empathy disconnect: I get it. It is true that being ogled, catcalled, propositioned, even sometimes touched, is (or at least was, in the 80s & 90s) practically background noise for walking around the world as a young woman. But how many of those things are harassment? 2/2

I admit that I'm not going around asking my friends if they've been assaulted. But my friends cut a decent swath of society, and its just not brought up. So, perhaps it's a grassroots messaging problem. Issues being discussed in media don't match the homefront.
