@BretWeinstein @HeatherEHeying @joerogan @MsBlaireWhite @RubinReport @jordanbpeterson @EricRWeinstein Why is this question on an application for college scholarships? What makes me an Ally? If I answer #4 or not at all does that make me anti LGBT in whatever algorithm they use?pic.twitter.com/HKKOFHYru6

This is a form of loyalty oath, which is related to a purity test. Check “prefer not to answer,” and be grateful that, for now, that is still an option.

Well I googled the definition of Ally and felt that it mostly fit. I chose that because I feel like if they use some algorithm that it will definitely use my answer, even if I don't answer.

Just select yes and Native American and black for ethnicity. Apparently you can get away with all that and you'll get all kinds of bonus points

Can't help but note, as you all fly off the handle, that it is an optional question. I would wager, is demographic data. @jrm66 does the app state that this is depersonalized from your identity? Wouldn't want to jump to conclusions on twitter about being executed for a checkbox.

I agree it is more than likely what you say. The issue is that there is no way to know that. I was mostly concerned about identifying as an Ally because that makes me think any other option makes you an enemy, based on using that term. It doesn't state anything besides optional.

It was just interesting to me is all. I have filled out many scholarship forms and had never had a question that dealt with being an Ally to the LGBT community.

It is new to me as well! Probably won't get you shot, no matter your answer. Interesting to track as we re-tune language and expectations for broader awareness. Blowback aplenty. I have compassion for the intents of both the conservative and progressive POV. We are trying!

I wish there was an option that said "I just want people to be happy." Because that is the correct answer. It just struck me as odd that on a form where I am hoping for money to advance my education, a question like that may or may not be used (more than likely not.)
