It was OPTIONAL. That was NOT what triggered the protests. Can you not see this whole story has been curated by right wing media to inflame people just like you?

I’m the one with a closed mind for reading the other side of the story. Silly me.

You know, that after Tucker Carlson aired the story they had so many right wing threats they had to close the campus for three days? You know that right?

Dude. Nearly all of your "facts" are wrong. Here is just one: One loon from NJ called in a threat which shut down the college. It reopened--then quickly shut down again because of *internal* threats by students wielding baseball bats, who literally assaulted other students.

I had to just concede. No point in arguing when someone is talking to change minds or make enemies out of others. It did make me question my knowledge a little and a little googling was all the refreshment I needed.

This is one of the problems, isn't it. All it takes is an internet connection to make things up out of whole cloth (or borrow from those who have), and spread them widely. Both/all "sides" are doing it. We *should* be talking to change minds--but not with lies. Reality exists.

This is something I think about almost daily. The rate at which technology is changing our interactions with each other is amazing. I really am curious how many are paying attention to it. I just feel like technology has hurtled us forward at a pace we are not adapted to handle.

Yes--the rate of change itself is changing so fast, that even our very fast cultural evolution is outpaced by it. There is almost no opportunity for individuals--or populations--to assess what is "good" for us. Add algorithms designed to capture us, and the outlook isn't good.

It honestly blows my mind how we are so apathetic about it. I don't know much, but I think I understand enough to know we are going to see some of humanities most difficult times in our future. Systems are failing under scrutiny and people don't know how to handle it.
