Hatred and lies: an intoxicating brew. So many words have been abused into meaninglessness: feminist, racist, fascist...& now many authoritarians are representing the “left." I want my word back. Better yet, a political apparatus that neither caves nor panders to such rhetoric. https://twitter.com/EVDrev/status/1051487100485292032 …

Totalitarian monster from Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. Not unlike Orwell's pig Napoleon in 1984.

Ahh thanks. I have not seen/read THT. Best of luck with your fascist fashion and whatever other ridiculousness they try to paint you with.

I haven't watched the screen adaptation of Handmaid's Tale, but the novel--which I read in college, shortly after it was first published, haven't reread in many years--is extraordinary. It paints a kind of Orwell/Huxley dystopian future that is revealing by being over the top.

Interesting. I had not heard of it until the recent series. I've read 1984, and BNW, and enjoyed both for various reasons so I'll add Atwood to my ever increasing reading list...

I wish these leftists would read Atwood's Oryx and Crake. It's a far more apt take on our political present and near-future.

It’s like the left has only read The Handmaids Tale & Harry Potter. All of their allusions go to one or the other.
