When it came time to vote there were no challenges - no single additional candidate presented per vacancy. The voice vote was called either "Yea" or "Nay." I could vote neither way - I did not have appropriate time with the information to cast a vote either way.

At the end of the meeting I &
@julia_forman approached Frank Bolz to have our votes changed in the record to abstention. He agreed. This was not about making a statement. This was about consistency bc I vote this way on Community Board when ample information/time is not provided.Pokaż ten wątek -
The entire evening was scripted down to delegates reading motions from small portions of paper like children in a Christmas pageant. One of those motions was to approve a pre-selected committee that will fill other vacancies as they arise when the convention is not in session.

These delegates read those scripts with great pride. It was disheartening. The committee to handle vacancies should have been selected by those in the room. And what none of them understood is that they were participating in a top down system that has no place in a democracy.

Thank you for running for JD + sharing these details. The process used to appt judges in Qns should not be a mystery. Grateful to you
@pwbnyc@MiriamBensman & others who are committing a great deal of time to expose what has been hidden for too long. Transparency is everything

I agree with
@kulkarni_nina . Thanks for shedding light on the process. It sounds like Queens needs to do what Brooklyn did- more transparency, more time for review. What you witnessed doesn’t sound very democratic. - Pokaż odpowiedzi
