Assumption in your tweet is that taxes currently aren't high enough. What is the basis for that? What % of GDP should they be at and who should have their taxes raised? Most fiscal conservatives assume 18% of GDP in tax revenue is ok and the issue is excessive gov't spending.

I think he was just somewhat awkwardly saying that we need lower spending as well as lower taxes, not that taxes aren't high enough.

Indeed. I would ask does the reduction in spending include parts of the equation that conservatives traditionally support; the overly bloated military comes to my mind.
