That’s excruciating. Was all of that time for private insurers?
-
Yes- but most were secondary Medicare

To me these insurance companies are stealing your extremely valuable time. Mass theft of service that happens daily

So, for this P2P stuff the ins. co. had Drs on their payroll? What kind of Doc is that? Are they like the phone Docs that prescribe Cialis? Or more like the highway exit med center Docs? I’m sorry to think that my Card MD is forced to deal with clowns on my behalf. Thanks though!

They are doctors who got burned out seeing patients but still wanted to make money off of their medical degree.

PBMs don't necessarily cave in when you Tweet or blog about their their behavior. They may try to embarrass you with your employers and demand the details of the patient you are talking about. Even when it has nothing to do with the patient. That is how low they have stooped.

Ugh. It usually takes me 2-3 false starts to find the actual PBM for the patient.

I don’t have much direct experience but saw some advice that seemed compelling: If an MD is being unreasonable in peer-to-peer discussion, ask for their medical license number. Apparently quickly changes perspective. Think that could be effective? I’ve never needed to use.

I start with name, specialty, states licensed, etc before the conversation. You always need to know who you spoke with. They know.
