Parents are encouraged to make sure pre-teens get the HPV vaccine at 11 or 12 years of age. Almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infections. HPV can also cause mouth or throat cancer in both girls and boys.

Missouri ranks 44th in the U.S. for our abnormally high maternal mortality rate. Today, requested $4.3 million to turn that statistic around. According to the most recent data, the pregnancy-related mortality ratio in Missouri was 25.2 deaths per 100,000 live births.
