be buried at the evil forest if she remains uncut upon her death. The guardian in Lagos knows this is just a myth but won’t know how to approch the girl’s parent to desist from this barbaric act as she learnt the 13year old elder sisters have recently been cut...

Not to cut their two daughters yet to be cut. It was a successful journey, a successful service to save an innocent girl from being cut and this collaboration with
@thegirdlengr is worth all the stress encountered just to save this innocent gal from the knife....Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The parents were happy to receive the information from us and were thankful that we came to educate them. They also promised us NOT to cut their daughters yet to be cut and also carryon our message to their village people.

To think that we were entertained with bottles of coke after the sensitization shows that they will keep to their promise of NOT CUTTING their girlspic.twitter.com/zUruCgsoNf

Why wasn’t the police involved ? They should have signed an undertaking that if anything happens to the girl they will surely be prosecuted . There are lots of states that haven’t signed into law that circumcision is a criminal offense and it deserves an appropriate punishments
-
Wow! This is one aspect we didn’t think of probably because we were under pressure to go as the girl’s guardian in Lagos wanted us to talk to the parent ASAP.We are still in contact with them and we are surely going to chip this in before they travel home for Xmas. Thank you ma

-
The other issue is pressure from the commmunity may make them change their mind. 2 days ago I got a message from a mother in Kenya. She doesn’t want to cut her daughter but the 11year old is tired of being bullied by other girls in school & is saying to her Mom I want to be cut.
-
You are absolutely correct,we can’t shy away from community pressure. This is the reason organizations should not stop the
#antiFGM campaign. Let’s spread the message to every one in every corner of the world! I feel sorry for the Kenya Woman. Kindly talk to the child!

Idoma people dey do FGM? Haaa... Never heard that before... Well done to your team for the Good they do in our world... One Life at a time. Ekushe!

Yes they do. Research has it that they also have a very high rate of HIV. Who knows whether cutting is the cause. Victims of cutting may get infected with all forms of virus as the practitioners are local village women with unsterilized tools
-
HIV dies after 3-5 mins leaving the blood stream & a livable host. They would need to cut someone with HIV & immediately cut another without HIV for transmission to occur. Great work & hopefully they keep their promise. Its a devastating ‘tradition’.
-
Sir, exactly - that's why it's a 'seasonal cut' and actually why they summoned her and other uncut girls this December. They gather them in a place and after some 'ritual cleansing', start cutting them one after the other. We believe, with that, the spread of HIV is possible.
