When it became super clear that this had really got to him I reached out to try to apologise because, like, based on the stories I realised he wasn't someone you wanted to have it out for you
Specifically his 'I'm bringing attention to you with this tweet' comment was worrying to me - he saw himself as having done me a favour, and I had only very recently been made aware what rejecting favours like that might mean.
The worst part is that fucking screenplay he wrote being all like 'I forgive you for being ignorant about what sort of person I really am' and I thought, what a fuckin' piece of irony, I'm apologising to you because I know exactly what sort of person you are
I can't imagine the pressure this same process puts on women who have careers to lose, or who end up working with him on projects. It's messed up, and scary, and it's really brave of the women who are starting to come forward.
I felt incredibly selfish and like a piece of shit when I tried to 'make things good' with this person, just to protect myself. But I know people have had to do a lot worse out of fear to comply with his bullshit, so I count myself lucky.
That was one fucking bizarre exchange he had with you.
I also liked that interview, a lot. He seemed like a great dude. Finding about these numerous sexual assault allegations has been a trip. It never occurred to me that Max Landis is such an awful human being.
a bunch of sexual assault
