I'm reminded of how RPGs with rich dialogue systems feel incredibly strange when you can only convert/spare/have moral conversations with specific people and get to freely murder other people designated by the game as less deserving of a story

This is one of the things Rogue One should get credit for: A Star Wars Story bothered to cover how tons of people working for the Empire hate it, and are deliberately building things wrong, sabotaging stuff, etc

The stormtroopers are victims of the empire as well, and the first film to properly consider that as a concept, instead of just having one guy switch sides at the start of a trilogy, wins the star wars

If I did a star wars film, and I've written treatments for fun because I'm a weirdo, I would have it be the lives of a bunch of people who do gruntwork on a First Order flagship and at the end Rey kills them all without a second thought on her way to redeem Kylo Ren

Like, it didn't even have to be successful every time. Just show them trying to reach the Stormtroopers.

This bugged me so much during TLJ and TRoS. Even as someone who enjoyed TLJ, I thought there was at least an opportunity to try and reach out to the troopers at least ONCE. It could've even been done comedically -- just show us somethin
