Just asked my very normie gf about how she’d react to employers asking for all social media info (incl reddit) and she said 7/10 weirded out (ie freaked out but would go along with it)h, and even said one of her college apps asked for it. It’s coming

If someone were asked when signing a contract to list their social media profiles and they knowingly lied, do you know if that’s a criminal offense?

Yeah, idk man, I think it would probably be fraud? But 30 seconds of scanning La Wik suggests it's probably a civil offense, at least in the US

Very unlikely to be criminally charged in any case on something related to a job app unless it's for a government job

Makes sense, and I think that's why we'll probably see a bigger effort than just "please list all your social media account usernames here" on contracts. Not quite sure which path it will be though
