I have a very hard time imagining that any gal would want to join the Boy Scout troop I participated in. Part of me thinks this won’t be a big deal.

The social dynamic of that troop would change completely with the very first girl who joined. Boys would settle down to try to impress her. If not they would be forced to settle down to make the troop civilized enough for girls.

The troop was already pretty well ‘settled down’ on account of how much the local leadership feared injuries/litigation. I agree that a single female can change things — but, I see the female entrants being the overweight, dandruff eating, types with no female friends.

The inclusion of girls will bring more busybody mothers, though. The kinds of mothers who’d otherwise keep out of an all male space. I think the willingness to accept anyone regardless of their place on the social pecking order will keep out normal girls.
