I think the point is that the massive cost would have been spent (not that that would be any better)

I get that, but I feel a lot of people are unaware that Albie was terminal and that his brain was nearly entirely gone and death was both immutable and immanent.

I think that's correct that a lot of people talking about the case don't realize that.

You are right, the British government handled this horribly. They should have had them sign a medical release and let them attempt to move him to Italy. Their refusal seemed juvenile and vindictive.
