Problem is, pulling kids out doesn't change funding unless a bunch of people do it. If it's just, "hey we have some free services, do you want them?", it's hard to resist completely. (That is, even right wingers may find some parts of value in schools)

Personally, we've sent kids to school and also done some homeschooling. Some of the reason we've used school is that the relatives would freak out if we did all homeschooling. Some of the school has probably been good for at least one kid. Not sure about the other two.
