The media spent a long time in the 90s talking about the situation in the former Yugoslavia. We heard a lot about "ethnic cleansing" and how the evil Serbs were genociding the Bosnians. The general sentiment was: these people need to get along, and if they don't we'll make them.

With the Bosnians portrayed as the victims, and the idea being that we needed to stop the Serbs, of course. I think it's worth looking back at this and asking if the uniformly anti-Serb viewpoint on US TV was actually correct.

Even if we start with the idea that we want to minimize genocide, couldn't we have worked out separation in some way other than bombing the Serbs? Didn't the Serbs have a legitimate interest in getting the Bosnians into Bosnia rather than Serbia?

At the time I figured, "ok, the Serbs seem kind of mean, they shouldn't be killing people,so US action to make them stop seems reasonable." Today I think, "yeah,I wouldn't want Bosnians in my country either" Could some kind of separation have been worked out rather than bombing?

Another position I'm more inclined to today is, of course, "This is none of our business, not in our interests, and we should stay out". But let's assume there's too much demand to "do something" to ignore it.

What I"ve noticed is no one has pointed out this was a group of europeans martially resisting Muslim expansion and they were punished for it, long before there was a stormfront website, probably

Yes, the story was entirely about persecution of the poor Muslims
