It's one of the opening lines of The Fellowship of the Ring movie. I was watching it recently, and this line really struck a chord. How many people can even conceive of Detroit in the 1930s today? Few even remember California in the 50s. Much gets forgotten.

Yes, but that's because the Good Professor's archaic diction was virtually unique to himself last century. I couldn't give you chapter and verse, or tell you which character said it.
