Having lived in Africa, I disagree. The harshness of survival in poorer regions today drives inventivesness and increases the high value of education.
Guess what, ending US government involvement in Africa will only increase refugee flows in the short term, as long as we keep letting them in.

What do you think happens when you close your border, it means an increase in populations outside your country as poverty increases leading to more extreme ways of trying to get into your country. It is in everyones best interests that countries have the same as you do.

That's silly. As long as there is trade, any country can get rich. All it needs is good governance and clever entrepreneurs. Third World people don't need to emigrate to get work. They need better government, and better entrepreneurs.
