Organic free range stuff has a lot more to do with the quality of the product. Even corporate charitable giving is plausibly apolitical enough in general. Explicitly favoring one side like this is new, and it's not because consumers have shifted that much.

Traditionally, corporations have tried to avoid appearing political to avoid alienating either side. The liberal politicization is new.

No, there are other reasons they might do this even aside from government influence and profit: it's largely because management (and most of the ownership) truly believes in it. Management's political interests have little to do with profit.
