      @Cedarwooded @HbdNrx @surreal_society @EuropeanDefense for every 5 microgram increase in prenatal blood-lead levels, there was a 40 percent greater risk for arrest. Source (pg 225): https://www.amazon.com/Anatomy-Violence-Biological-Roots-Crime/dp/0307475611 …pic.twitter.com/NfQ6I11ppF

      Some of this is correlation: poorer people live in older buildings closer to highways and let their children get exposed to more lead. I wouldn't be surprised if lead has some causal effect though

      There is numerous literature attesting to the fact that this has a strong causal relationship with crime. I agree with highways etc. Lead from water can seep into, and stay in, dirt and kids play there and get exposed to lead. I'd say there is more than 'some' causal effect.

      That's fine but remember there's much more motivation to prove that it's all caused by lead than to prove that it's all caused by genetics. My guess: lead causes less than 10% of the variation in crime.

      It's not all caused by genetics, nor lead, nor environment. Not aware of any estimates on how much of the variance it explains. Writing an article on this tonight, I'll dig

      It's all pretty much like this: Percent of identifiable (nonrandom) variation: Genetics: 80% Lead & nutrition generally: 10% Other environment/parenting/schools/etc: 10%

          At this point: I would lower it. Genetics 40-60% Environment 40%-60%. Because we are dealing with genetically different populations it makes sense that we would see variance

          The more genetically different your populations, the more influence genetics has compared to environment. Your genetic % is too low.
