Simply adding voters randomly beyond hundreds or thousands doesn't really improve the quality of your signal about "what do the people think on this particular vote?".
Gather information? You have a misconception about what voting is in large groups. Take polling, for instance. You poll more people in order to reduce the random sample variation, but beyond a few hundred to a few thousand you don't really improve much. Similarly,...

Furthermore, if you want to talk about nonrandom additions to your voting pool, you need to justify why that particular group is *at least as good* at voting as your existing group, otherwise why bother?
