80s had a lot of hippie liberalism (eg "we are the world") but not a lot of real marxism or sjwism
It was pretty well confined to the colleges then. I know political correctness really got its start at the time, but PC was widely mocked by the general public.

Yup. Berkeley's old-line liberals got the last laugh on the requirement. Class had to cover at least 3 of 5 racial groups in U.S. Surprise, surprise, most of the classes that qualified were sociology and history, and some poli sci.
