Let's say your kid in 6th grade has to write a page or two about a "civil rights leader". Aside from "homeschooling", what's the best plan here assuming you want to stay on the teacher's good side? Who do you pick if they can choose anyone,& who if it's restricted to the usual?

Obviously there's the possibility of "just leave the kid to do whatever he feels like", but let's assume the kid comes to you and asks for advice.

If he had to choose between the two, I'd pick Malcolm X over Martin Luther King, because the former was a segregationist and a separatist who was fairly realistic on a lot of issues while King was 100% a mouthpiece. Presenting the more violent side of civil rights is a plus.

Among the most common options, this seems correct.
